I’m sitting on my bed, a glass of prosecco poured and it’s storming outside. I am perfectly okay with all three things.

Time to catch-up on the events and adventures of the past two days.

If we turn right out of our apartment, we land in the gardens at Castel Sant’ Angelo. A left turn and a 2 minute walk takes us to St Peter’s Basilica. Our first full day started at the Castel, which fully translates into Castle of the Holy Angel, originally built as a mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian and his family. Over the years it has been used as a fortress and castle for the Popes and notably, as a prison. It is also old, very old, built 123-139 AD. We spent a good hour and a half here, reveling in the history and absorbing the view atop the peak of the Castle. From here we journeyed…
